Sustainable Microgrid Analysis for Kutubdia Island of Bangladesh

Uninterrupted power supply with sustainable microgrid remains a big challenge for Kutubdia Island in Bangladesh. However, the majority of study has been focused on techno-economic aspects producing electricity support this isolated area. To bridge gap, present proposes methodology assessing off-grid hybrid pertaining to priorities four key sustainability performance indicators (KSPI): economy, environment, technology, and society. The evaluation process also includes total 13 sets sub-indicators under KSPI, such as levelized cost energy, return investment, CO 2 emissions, renewable fraction, excess electricity, unmet load, land usage, job creation etc. comprehensive value KSPI regarding economic, environmental, technical, social are computed using fuzzy logic Mamdani type rules, which facilitates human judgment linguistic terms eliminates weightage ambiguity. Seven scenarios integrating locally accessible resources have scored ranked identify suitable configuration. According findings, PV/Wind/Diesel/Converter/Battery combination reveals best option considering economic priority. On other hand, PV/Wind/Converter/Battery alternative receives excellent scores is recommended both environmental categories. PV/Diesel/Converter/Battery arrangement outperforms others architectures gets preference technical reasons. Additionally, electrical, financial, emission, sensitivity analysis carried out selected Kutubdia. This assessment framework can assist academics, policymakers investors planning better way based dimensions.
